Are you sacred of Coronavirus? The thousands of deaths and millions of people on the bed due to this contagious disease has rung the bells of a global health emergency. The World Health Organization WHO is keeping a tab on the outbreak and providing all sorts of information and resources to control the damage. Forget developing, developed countries like the USA and China are unable to fight off this virus which took thousands of lives there. This panic situation of quarantine and lockdown has made us all paranoid. Anybody can catch this virus upon coming in direct contact with the infected and the chain continues. But recently, WHO listed out some categories that are at the highest risk of COVID 19.

According to WHO’s Instagram post, one may get coronavirus with the risk of becoming severely ill, if they have a pre-existing medical condition or a non-communicable disease like chronic respiratory issues, cardiovascular or heart diseases, cancer, diabetes and blood pressure. But why?

heart coronavirus

Basically, this is an autoimmune disease that largely affects only those with weaker immunity. Having any serious ailment makes the human body weak from within which affects the immune system badly. Since you are not healthy enough in terms of immunity, you become an easy target for this virus. If you look at the figures, most of the deaths caused due to coronavirus are of either the aged or the ones ailing with a major medical condition such as diabetes, poor cardiovascular health, hypertension, etc.

The elderly people are also susceptible to getting infected with novel coronavirus as aging affects the immunity of the human body which tends to weaken immunity over time. Therefore, people above 45 years should also take extra care of themselves and stay locked down until this virus is completely destroyed.

Smoking/Tobacco Increases The Chances Of Coronavirus Infection

Wondering how smoking is related to coronavirus? Here is a post by WHO which explains the risk of COVID-19 on smokers.

The caption written against the post says, “Using tobacco products can increase your chance of getting #COVID19 Bringing your hands to your mouth can transfer the virus into your body. Sharing tobacco products can transmit the virus between people.  Tobacco weakens your respiratory system making you more vulnerable to coronavirus”

Firstly, you are purchasing cigarette or tobacco from a seller(an outsider) who contact at least hundreds of people, if not more. Imagine a coronavirus-positive person came in contact with the seller and they exchanged the cigarette. Technically, the seller must have touched the infected’s hands and gave your cigarette from that hand only. This is the theory of the coronavirus chain.

In a second hypothesis, imagine you shared your stuff with someone and that person has this virus. The virus transmitted and with smoking, it entered your body. This is why shared smoking or tobacco products is extremely risky these days.
