Sinusitis or sinus is an inflammatory disease starting from the nasal cavity. In this disease the nasal cavity swells and the inflammation ruin the respiration process. Antibiotics are a type of medication that delays or slow downs the growth of bacteria. A broad-spectrum antibiotic is used to treat a wide range of infections. A narrow-spectrum antibiotic is only effective against specific types of bacteria.

There are numerous sets of  guidelines provided by healthcare professionals, which are all similar. A patient with thick, colorful nasal discharge and/or facial pressure or pain for at least 10 days is suggested  for antibiotic treatment.

In some cases, the symptoms start improving and then get worse again. This is referred as double-worsening and is a common scenario in the case of bacterial sinus.

The most common symptoms of sinus include throbbing pain, blocked nasal passage and in more severe cases green pus from the eye.Overall, before deciding to go for antibiotics just confirm with your doctor that you really need them.
