What are Keloids?

Keloids are kind of scars which keep on growing even after the skin has healed. Keloids usually grow above the skin and appear to be smooth. They are pink or purple in colour and rough to touch. They are irregular in shape and progress eventually.

Aloe Vera Gel

This could be an effective remedy when your scar is fresh. If a scar is over a year old, this remedy wouldn’t work. Aloe vera gel helps reduce the appearance of the scar.

Lemon Juice

This is an effective treatment to lighten the appearance of scar on top layer of skin. Just put a few drops of fresh lemon juice and rub it on the scar. Do this at least twice a day to get the best results.

Onion Extract

Onion extract could be used to reduce the scar formation. Cut an onion and place it in cheesecloth. Now put the cheesecloth in a bowl and with another bowl press the diced onion to extract its juice. With a cotton ball apply the onion juice on keloids.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E can very effectively reduce the appearance of scars by boosting skin growth. Buy a cream which contains vitamin E or take vitamin E capsules which contain oil that you can rub on the scar.

Ointments

There are ointments available in the store that can be used to remove scars. These ointments contain steroids which reduce itching, which can create a trouble for people suffering fro keloids.
