Small intestine cancer is a rare disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the small intestine.

Small intestine cancer is a rare disease in which cancer cells form inside the tissues of the small intestine. The human digestive system consists of esphagus, stomach, small intestine and large intestine. The main function of the digestive system is to remove and process the nutrients from the foods. It also helps in passing out the waste material from the body. Small intestine is a long tube which connects the stomach to the large intestine.


Types of small intestine cancer

There are five types of intestine cancer which include:

  • Adenocarcinoma: it is the most common type of small intestine cancer. It starts in the glandular cells in the lining of the small intestine.
  • sarcoma : It starts in the smooth muscle cells of the small intestine.
  • Carcinoid tumours
  • Gastrointestinal

Symptoms of small intestine cancer

The signs and symptoms of the small intestine cancer include :

  • Weight loss
  • Abdominal pain
  • Cramps in the middle of the abdomen.
  • Lump in the abdomen
  • Blood in stool


Diagnosis of Small Intestine Cancer

The tests and procedures that can be done to detect the small intestine cancer include :

Endoscopy :

It is done to check the organs and tissues from the inside to find any abnormal areas in the small intestine.
