Water-Borne Diseases: Water Quality Ranking To Limit Contaminated Water By Govt. Officials

Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said that every citizen has the right to get clean drinking water

The Minister said that people, especially the poor who do not have access to filtered water, fall prey to water-borne diseases. He said that his ministry would initiate water quality rankings, which will start in the next three months in a hundred smart cities and all state capitals.

In the wake of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Ram Vilas Paswan made a vital statement related to clean drinking water and water-borne diseases. He inaugurated the 60th 'World Standards Day' organised by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in New Delhi. At the function, Ram Vilas Paswan lauded the efforts of all BIS officials on the occasion of the 60th 'World Standards Day' and said that we have the best laboratories in the world. He encouraged BIS and noted that the institution should play a leading role in setting the world standard, and it should be synonymous with trust and equality.

Water in Every Household By 2024

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of water supply in all houses by the year 2024, Paswan said that BIS could play a significant role in this direction, as it also sets standards for water pipes. He told about the water quality in Delhi that his ministry is awaiting the final report of 11 samples taken from various places in Delhi and will be made public after receiving the news. Paswan said that every citizen has the right to get clean drinking water. He said that people, especially the poor who do not have access to filter water, fall prey to water-borne diseases. He said that his ministry would initiate water quality rankings, which will be started in the next three months in a hundred smart cities and all state capitals. This ranking will be implemented in all districts in six months. He said that clean drinking water would be a mass movement. He said that clean drinking water would be a mass movement. Paswan said that he has written to the Chief Ministers of all states to make the standards mandatory for drinking water supplied through taps.
