The Precautions - Patients with hyperthyroidism can take some home precautions to control their condition of hyperthyroidism. Vitamins, such as vitamin B12 and vitamin C play a big role in treating hyperthyroidism. While vitamin B 12 plays a role in the functioning of the thyroid gland, vitamin C on the other hand acts as a powerful antioxidant. Spirulina and bladderwrack are good herbs that help in regulating the production and maintaining the function of thyroid gland. Hyperthyroidism patients also shouldn’t smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol or caffeine, sweetened carbonated water and processed foods. It has been found that people, who smoke, are more likely to get Grave’s disease compared with people who do not smoke. Also, it is important to eat low calorie food that is rich in calcium, manganese, neodymium, terbium, copper and thulium. All these assist the thyroid gland and keep it under control. One should also keep the neck area protected during cold winter days and stay away from certain drugs, such as lithium and amiodarone.

The precautions given above should be followed in strict adherence if you suffer from hyperthyroidism. The butterfly needs to be taken care of or else it will spread its wings and go astray.
