Snooze Button: Know What Happens When You Keep Snoozing Your Alarm

Getting out of bed in the morning isn’t always easy, and the chilly weather doesn’t make it any easier — getting up late in the morning means it’s still dark when the alarm goes off, and it’s hard to crawl out from un

Snooze Button Research: Take out a few minutes to imagine your daily routine in the morning. It's 6 in the morning, the phone beside you is buzzing with the text written on the screen 'morning alarm'. So what is your next step? Don't lie, as most of you do this! There is a beautiful option of the 'snooze button' on your cellphone and your next step is to click it. Am I right?  Because you never find your sleep enough and you desire to get '10 more minutes' in the morning. Beware! This may lead to several health hazards. Here’s why you should quit this awful habit.

Why snoozing is hazardous?

The body needs some time to wake up and get into the normal temperature. If you keep hitting back the snooze button, the body feels it as 'false alarm' and puts you back to the sleeping temperature. When the alarm rings again your body is taken by surprise which results in an irritated feeling called 'sleep inertia'. The chain goes on from here, as the more you hit the snooze button, the more your body feels confused and the sleep inertia continues for the whole day.

Putting an alarm of 6 AM and waking up at 7 AM is injurious for your mental as well as physical health. Just like your alarm clock, there is a body-clock, which sets a time for your body. These timings tell you, when to sleep and when to get up. For instance, you may have seen that your parents or grandparents get up early in the morning without any alarm clock. This habit is known as the body clock. Therefore, it is suggested to maintain a routine and fix your timings for sleeping.

A solution to the problem

We all know that it's difficult, but some changes should be made for your health and well-being. Set up the alarm according to your wake up timings and don't cheat as it is going to give benefit to you. Maintain consistency which may help you at the end of the day to naturally feel sleepy. This will lead you straight to your bed and eventually, you will wake up without an alarm the next day.
