Do you like to sleep until late at the weekend? And why not? The weekend is spent only to breathe peacefully after the whole week's rush and work stress. Although our elders say that getting up early is healthy, if we tell you that there are many benefits of sleeping till late, then what would you say? Yes, you read it right. People who cannot get enough sleep in a week can compensate by taking extra sleep.

Researchers at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania (in the United States) have claimed this in research. According to research, extra sleep is beneficial for health and body. It caters to the lack of sleep-deprived people. According to the Daily Express report, even 10 hours of sleep is not enough to energize those who stay awake overnight.

  • It is noteworthy that insufficient sleep affects the ability to think, control stress, keep the immune system healthy and control emotions. Not only this, lack of concentration and memory decreases when sleep is incomplete.
  • Dr David Dinges, the lead researcher, said, "Sleeping extra or getting two hours of extra sleep in the morning is beneficial for health (if there is no prolonged sleep). It helps in bringing vigilance in practice. This research was done on 159 people.

According to the study, 142 people were asked to sleep 10 hours for two nights. They were then asked to sleep four hours a night for five days. After that, they were asked to sleep an extra day. While the other 17 participants were asked to get 10 hours of sleep during this period. All participants were subjected to a 30-minute evaluation test at eight in the morning. During five days, inadequate sleepers consistently performed worse due to fatigue and lack of concentration than those who did not have enough sleep.
