A recent study has found an association between eating meat and premature death, especially the consumption of processed meats such as bacon and sausage.
A large-scale study has blamed one in 30 early deaths on the processed meat consumption such as bacon, sausage salami and ham. Even one sausage a day is bad for your health.
According to researchers, salting, curing and smoking of meat increases carcinogens like nitrosamines, which is the cause of increased cancer mortality. Moreover, the study underlined that processed meats are high in cholesterol and saturated fats, and thus, increase the risk of heart and circulatory disease.

The European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) study involved 10 countries and 23 centres in Europe and almost half a million people has found that risk of premature death increased with the amount of processed meat eaten by a person.
Those who eat more than 40g of processed meats on a daily basis are at greater risk of premature death. Researchers suggested estimated that 3% of premature deaths could be prevented if people ate less than 20g processed meat per day.
