As it grows larger, it will begin to get more painful, until finally you have ruptured and drained the pus. The word carbuncle means a cluster of boils which happens to form a connected area of infection under your skin. What you must remember is that although you can care for a single boil at home very easily, you must not attempt to prick or squeeze it by any chance. This may spread the infection. You must call a doctor if the boil or the carbuncle gets too painful.
