In today’s age of one-click search and tinned foods, all of us want to go for the easiest and the swiftest means of renovation in our emergence. But do you really think cosmetic surgery is the way to go?
“Too many people spend money they haven't earned, to buy things they don't (or do?) want, to impress people they don't like.”
The relevance of this quote couldn’t have been truer when talking in the context of plastic surgeries.
After all, who wouldn’t want to put their best (treated) asset forward at the first day of their college? With approaching goose bumps on the much-hyped first day of DU, girl students want to re-define the way first appearances are seen.
“Luscious lips, dimples at right spots on cheeks just like those of Aishwarya Rai, Shilpa Shetty or Angelina Jolie,” says Dr. Sanjay Parashar, senior cosmetic surgeon and Director Cocoona India.
‘Oh! I want those looks’
Experts suggest that girls, in today’s day and age, will push the buck till whatever extreme when it comes to looking the ‘ideal’ way which they have always dreamt of. “The awareness about various cosmetic procedures and they being safer than before are also attracting the youngsters towards this,” added Dr Parashar.
Sheetal Jerrath, just got done with her Boards and is all geared up for the life- ‘whether the life throws lemons or apples at me, I know I am ready for it’, says the zestful 17 years old. For this, she didn't mind going under the knife. “I am a fan of Dipika Padukone and am awe-struck by her beauty. I just love her dimples and got on my cheeks as well. I really look like Deepika. Making friends will not be a problem now," she says flaunting the newly carved dimples.
Another leading cosmetic surgeon from New Delhi, Dr Amit Gupta adds, "Young girls, nowadays, want to look beautiful and radiant. They basically go for liposuction, scar revision and nose correction which are not a big task these days”.
Gupta says he was getting many such clients these days. Fascinatingly, Swati too got her dream dimples done by him.
Babies are no more babies
Baby fat is no more in which their sex appeal lies- babies are no longer babies! They have this never-ending obsession to look stunning and eye-catching instead of sweet, bumble and sugar-like image.
"The trend of cosmetic surgery is changing these days. People are very much conscious about their looks. We get loads of clients, especially 18 to 23 years old, who don’t hesitate to go for a surgery for their imperfection," explains Dr. Amit Gupta.
According to the New York Times, “even when surgery is clearly justifiable, there are issues of physical readiness.” From noses to dimples to breasts, certain body parts are still developing, signifying that going under a knife too soon can be a slip-up.
Is the risk really worth it?
If you are somebody who is willing to go upto any heights when it comes to getting ‘that’ desirable look, then just run through these questions and give yourself a better understanding.
- How long have I thought about this surgery?
- What makes me think about this surgery now?
- Is there any other alternative by which I can achieve ‘that’ look?
- Will this surgery change my life and not only my appearance?
- Do I, at back of mind, think that this will help in improving my relationship with people?
- Will surgery really give me the look I want?
Our Take: In today’s age of one-click search and tinned foods, all of us want to go for the easiest and the swiftest means of renovation in our emergence. But do you really think cosmetic surgery is the way to go?
