Meditation is a mental discipline by which one attempts to get beyond the conditioned, 'thinking' mind into a deeper state of relaxation or awareness. It often involves turning attention to a single point of reference. It is also practiced outside religious traditions. Different meditative disciplines encompass a wide range of spiritual and/or psychophysical practices which may emphasize different goals from achievement of a higher state of consciousness, to greater focus, creativity or self-awareness, or simply a more relaxed and peaceful frame of mind.
Here are some of the mudras of meditation which you can do to attain mental satisfaction:
Dhyani Mudra/ contemplation mudra
Place both hand as illustration in photo with thumb touching each other. This is a classical meditation pose. Sit in padmasana and do this mudra and observe your breath. The two hands formed into a bowl show that we are invertly free, pure, and empty in order to receive everything that we need on our spiritual part. Since there is not empty space in the universe and everything that appears "empty" to us is full of subtle energy, this void will become filled with new energy. Our thought and feelings determine the quality. This is why we need to use this mudra so that we can anchor and connect to the universe.
Place both hand in front of your chest so that only the edges of the hand and pads of the fingers touch each other as illustrated in the photo. Now open both hands but maintain the contact between the tip of little finger and the outer edges of the thumb. Spread the other finger, open as wide as possible. This mudra belongs to heart charka and is the symbol of purity. Love lives in the heart together with goodwill, affection and communication. Do this mudra when you feel drained, misunderstood or lonesome. Open yourself to the divine force so that you receive what ever you need at much more.
