While it is only natural for a pregnant woman to go through changes in her body during prenancy, there are some changes that are unnatural and require swift action.

Complications during First Trimester of Pregnancy

Bodily changes that a woman goes through during pregnancy could be shocking and difficult to cope with. Most women have healthy pregnancies and taking care of health is an absolute necessity during this time. If this is your first pregnancy, you may have a lot of questions on what is normal and what is not. Here is an insight.

One of the most common problems during first trimester is nausea. It happens due to increased levels of oestrogen and progesterone. In order to get relief from this problem, you must eat small meals and drink plenty of liquids. Along with a nauseous feeling, you may want to throw up and often experience loss of appetite.

Fatigue and dizziness are complications that arise during the first trimester of pregnancy. It is always advisable to seek advice from your doctor and take vitamin tablets in order to get rid of them.

Tender Breasts

Your breast will feel more tender or painful and may even start to feel heavier and fuller. Try using a brassiere that is bigger in size or pick one from the maternity store; you may also opt for a sports bra for extra comfort.

Frequent Urination

While frequent urination may not literally be referred to as a complication, it feels pretty much like that because of disruptions in sleep that it leads to. It is advisable to urinate whenever you feel the urge. But, if this problem bothers you a lot at night, try to avoid excessive intake of liquids post dinner.

Food Cravings

Unnatural food cravings are another common complication faced by many women in their first trimester of pregnancy. Although, it is apparently harmless, resist from giving into temptation every time for the sake of your own health and well-being.

Loss of Appetite

From the time you start getting the signs of pregnancy, you will realise that you become disinterested in wanting to eat. Even your favourite dish refuses to entice you. This is because with a new change in your body and with the introdution of a new responsibility of feeding the baby as well, the stomach takes longer time to empty and absorb the food. This may lead to heartburn and constipation. The perfect defense in such case would be lots of fibre and fluids in your diet.

Mood Swings

On hearing the news about your pregnancy, you will feel anxious as well as excited. However, a solid support system at home will help you combat mood swings. We suggest, you sit back, relax and not let worries befuddle you!

Delay in your menstrual cycle or periods, nausea, tenderness in your breasts with unusual tiredness are some ocommon signs that suggest pregnancy. Although pregnancy might be an exciting prospect for you, it is important to keep a tab on the complications that you may have to face especially during the first trimester.
