  • The most fertile period is between 2—4 days before ovulation. The process of conception takes certain time to happen. During this period, the sperm remains within the reproductive organ for several days before fertilising the egg. Therefore, timing for conception is increasingly important. Women need to figure out their fertile period and proceed with the plan.
  • Women have 15 percent chance of getting pregnant in spite of unprotected sexual intercourse.

  • Biological clock is often associated with women, but it is the same for men. Fertility chances for a man also decreases with age. Moreover, health of the sperm depletes with age.
  • A man’s tight briefs can also make him infertile. These increase scrotal temperature due to closeness of testicles to the body. As a consequence, sperm count is reduced.
  • Dental care of expectant mother is closely related with that of the newborn. Gum disease or poor oral hygiene can result in premature delivery and low birth weight in infants.

  • Folic acid is one of the essential nutritional elements of pregnancy diet. It helps in prevention of birth-defects and boosts chances of fertility.
  • Aphrodisiac diet is believed to improve fertility chances, though it has nothing to do with pregnancy. It is advisable to reduce processed food consumption and increase fibre consumption to meet the nutritional needs of pregnancy.  Moreover, pregnant women should engage in moderate physical exercise along with healthy eating. There is no definite or magical diet to achieve pregnancy.
  • Healthy lifestyle should never be presumed to be healthy for fertility. Exercising regularly, eating nutritious diet and normal cholesterol and blood pressure levels do not ascertain fertility. There may be fertility problems such as hormonal dysfunction.
  • Being overweight is another inroad to get pregnant. Therefore, health experts advise maintaining a certain body weight to stay away from fertility concerns.
