If you do not want to retain that excess water then cut down on sodium intake and also exercise regularly which will help remove the excess water by sweating. Drinking 5-8 glasses of water keeps you hydrated and runs the metabolism of the body efficiently. Try to avoid processed foods, eat plenty of fruits and raw vegetables.
