Hopes to Cure Baldness

New study says that there is hope for baldness with the help of stem cells. Here is a look at the study report.

baldness treatmentA new study has now showed that it could be possible to offer bald males a new glimmer of hope. It could be possible to reverse baldness.

Studies done by researchers at the University of Pennsylvania have said that they are now closer to using stem cells to treat thinning the hair, and this was successful in mice. Study showed that the use of stem cells can regenerate missing or dying hair follicles could be considered as a potential way to reverse hair loss. It was however not possible to create adequate numbers of hair-follicle generating stem cells. This is especially true for epithelium which is the name for tissues that cover the surface of your body.

But new findings say otherwise.

Dr. Xiaowei Xu who is an associate professor of dermatology at Penn’s Perelman School of Medicine has mentioned in a new university new release, “This is the first time anyone has made scalable amounts of epithelial stem cells that are capable of generating the epithelial component of hair follicles."

Those cells have many potential applications that extend to wound healing, cosmetics and hair regeneration, Xu said.
