World ORS Day 2020: How To Make ORS At Home?

There are various diseases like diarrhoea and vomiting, where the body loses extra out on water content in the body, leading to dehydration. This is the time when doctors suggest giving ORS and oral rehydrating solution for a faster recovery. This solution replenishes the lost water content in the body instantly by balancing the electrolyte levels in the body. Even though it is readily available at any medical store, what about those times when you need it suddenly and do not have the time to go to a drug store? This is the time when you can make ORS at home.

  • Boiled water
  • Salt
  • Sugar
  • Lemon

Method: Boil water and let it cool down to room temperature. In one glass of water, add one tablespoon sugar, a pinch of salt and half lemon, mix well, and it is ready. This can be made in a batch of 1 litre and can be stored in room temperature.
