What is Lazy Eye or Amblyopia

Tips for ParentBy Onlymyhealth Editorial Team / Jun 30, 2012

Lazy eye or Amblyopia is a condition where a child has different vision in both the eyes i.e. the vision of one eye is not as good as that of the other. Children below 3 years of age are not able to judge and tell the difference in vision, so parents are advised to proactively take their child to an eye specialist for regular checkups. In general, lazy eye causes one eye to grow normal while other grows weaker. It can be avoided by taking the child to an eye specialist as he/she turns four. Parents are advised to take seriously as if not treated before the age of seven years, eye will never not get its vision back.
