A PhD from IIT Roorkee, Dr Swati Srivastava, in collaboration with Professor Yosef Yarden and other colleagues at the Weizmann Institute of Science, in Israel is instrumental in finding breakthrough treatment in the arena of bone cancer. This finding is basically to stop the appearance and growth of bone cancer cells in kids. The study established that how a treatment could prevent the Ewing sarcoma, which is a type of tumour, to spread. Bone cancer is a growing concern among kids, leading to deaths and as well as lifelong disability due to delay in diagnosis and treatment. With such findings, it is a ray of hope to have a definitive cure for this growing epidemic.
