Dumbbell shrugs help to work the upper back up and give it a toned appearance on the outside and strength on the inside. Physical trainer, Yasneem Manak, tells us how to do the dumbbell shrugs to strengthen the back. To do the exercise, grasp dumbbells on both the hands facing the sides of your thighs. Slowly pull your shoulder and try to bring it as close to the ears as possible. Keep the neck slightly forward to make the exercise easier to do. Breathe out as you lift your shoulder up and exhale as you push your shoulder down. Ensure that you do not bend the elbow while doing the exercise. Watch this video.
