Eat more fruits and vegetables

The antioxidant compounds present in fruits and vegetables fight damage caused by unstable molecules that can damage cells, which in turn helps the skin look younger and more radiant and protects it against the effects of photo aging. Image source : Getty

Quit smoking

Several studies have confirmed that cigarette smoke ages the skin by releasing an enzyme that breaks down the important components of the skin, namely collagen and elastin. Quitting the habit will not only help you stay healthier, but also reduce the risk of wrinkles. Image source : Getty

Avoid the sun

Sun is the major cause of wrinkles and dozens of studies have documented the impact. New York based plastic surgeon Darrick Antell, MD, in his study on identical twins found that exposure to the sun was even more important than heredity. Siblings who had limited to exposure to the sun had fewer wrinkles and looked younger compared with their sun-worshiping twins. It is recommended that you wear sunscreen when going out in the sun as it not only prevents wrinkles but also protects the skin from skin cancer. Image source : Getty

Get adequate sleep

When one doesn't get enough sleep, the body produces excess cortisol, a hormone that breaks down skin cells. Get enough rest and the body will produce more of the human growth hormone, which helps the skin remain thick and less likely to wrinkle. Image source : Getty

Use moisturizer

Applying moisturizer on the skin every day helps tighten the pores and keep the skin intact for longer. Not only does moist skin look better, it also fades the lines and creases and makes them far less noticeable. Image source : Getty

Don't wash your face too many times a day

Tap water strips the skin of its natural oils and moisture that protects it against wrinkles. Unless the soap contains moisturizing agents, it is better to use a cleanser instead. Image source : Getty

Eat more fish

Fish like Salmon are not only a great source of protein (one of the building blocks of great skin), but also of an essential fatty acid known as omega-3. Essential fatty acids help nourish skin and keep it plump and youthful, helping to reduce wrinkles. Image source : Getty

Botox relaxes the muscle just underneath the wrinkle, allowing the skin on top to be smooth and crease-free. A botox injection can make you look younger with less visible wrinkles. Image source : Getty

Wrinkle fillers and chemical peels

To reduce visibility of wrinkles, doctors fill them with a variety of substances including collagen, hyaluronic acid and other synthetic compounds. Another way of reducing the visibility of the wrinkles is to peel the top layer of skin off using chemical peels, creating damage that causes the body to respond by making more collagen resulting in a younger appearance.
