Asthma

If you keep your AC on during winter, you are more likely to get asthma-like symptoms. Since an AC is not used frequently during winter, it is likely to accumulate dirt and dust inside the equipment. When you switch on the AC, it circulates the dust into the room, posing risk to your health

Allergies

Apart from dust, your AC can also accumulate pollen grains or animal hair. These, as many know already, are two of the most common causes of allergies.

Dry skin

Winter makes our skin more prone to dryness. Using AC in this season can make skin even drier. This happens because air conditioning strips off moisture from skin, leaving it more scaly and dry.

Infections

Use of AC during winter increases indoor pollutants, causing growth of bacteria, fungus and viruses. Winter is a good season for bacteria and fungus to flourish and using AC during winter can increase their circulation.

Itching

People who use AC in winter are more likely to experience itching sensation. It mainly occurs due to dry skin caused by cool air. Dryness and itching of nasal passages are also common in winter, which can further increase with use of AC.
