Delicious Beauty Fixes

In spending all the time searching the beauty aisles, we usually forget about our bad-pressed Mother Nature and the gifts she has bestowed upon us from our personal stash of treasures. Sit up and take notes of the secret ingredients for glowing, gorgeous skin that live right in your fridge. It’s time to raid the fridge and simplify your beauty regimen. Image Courtesy: Getty

Pineapple Juice

Breaking News: pineapple juice isn’t just great for pina coladas but for your skin too. The pineapple enzymes keep our pretty faces hydrated and help skin stay supple, fresh and bright. You just have to freeze some pineapple juice in ice cube trays and rub them over your skin. Leave for five minutes before rinsing.  Image Courtesy: Getty

Maintaining healthy hair is tough. A natural yogurt hair mask can condition and nourish parched ends. Just apply yogurt to dry hair and rinse off after 15 minutes. The antibacterial properties and proteins that yogurt contains, keep your tresses dandruff free, strong, and moisturised. Image Courtesy: Getty

Nothing works better than a milk cleanser to provide a dewy, flawless skin that all of us crave for. Pour some milk into a pan and heat to boiling point before emptying the pan into a heated bowl. Then put a towel over your head and steam your face using the hot milk mix. The lactic acid in this steaming cleanse will unclog your pores. Image Courtesy: Getty

The cleaning and bleaching properties of lemons are no secret but did you know they are as good for your nails too? Cut a lime in half and rub the fruit over your nails. Then dangle your talons into a small bowl of water and dissolve some bicarbonate soda into the mixture. After five minutes remove your nails and dry. Voila, you can’t stop admiring your gleaming, white and shiny nails. Image Courtesy: Getty

You love cranberry-tinted lip gloss so why not make one yourself. Add one tablespoon of almond oil into a bowl, along with a handful of cranberries and some clear honey. Then add a drop of vitamin E oil, which protects you from free radicals like sunlight and cigarette smoke. Put the bowl with the lip gloss mix into a microwave and blast for five minutes. Once cool, strain the mix and leave to cool before adding it to a lip gloss container. Image Courtesy: Getty

Lemons and Egg

If you find your skin sagging and complexion uneven, you may want to take you skin care regime back to basics. Cut a lemon in half and squeeze its juice into a bowl, adding one egg white. Then beat the mixture and apply to your face. Leave the mask on for 30 minutes and kick back and listen to some music whilst you wait. Image Courtesy: Getty

Papaya Mask

In a bowl, mash four papayas with a fork; blend in 2 tbsp yogurt and set aside. Dissolve ½ cup of Epsom salts in a large pot of water, and then drop in a peppermint tea bag. Bring this water to a boil; remove from heat. Sit with face over pot for 3 minutes, head covered with a towel (like a tent) to seal in steam. Spread papaya mask over face. Leave on 10 minutes; rinse. Hot and cold

Looking for a rejuvenating after-spa feeling? Fetch those cucumbers out of your fridge and fill a bottle with hot water. Lie under a blanket with lights off and place the water bottle at your feet and the cucumber slices on your face. The contrast of temperatures – of hot and cold – will relax you and once you emerge from your blanketed den.  Image Courtesy: Getty

In a bowl, puree or mash 4 strawberries which help exfoliate your skin with contained salicylic acid, then add ½ a cup of sugar, 2 tbsp olive oil and 2 tbsp vegetable oil. Mix until well blended. Add peppermint oil 2 drops at a time until scrub smells minty (you could be adding 8 drops). Stash in the fridge or use immediately as a foot scrub. Image Courtesy: Getty
