And, you have got to realise how important it is to not pressurise the adrenal glands for the effective functioning of your body.

    Most of us have adrenal fatigue. So, how do you know if you really have it or how do you check that you have it? Unfortunately, this is difficult to make out because our fast-paced lifestyles just make us ignorant of what our body is going through. Besides, we are all used to feeling that we are less than brilliant.

    Is it Time to Consult the Doctor?

    If you feel tired for absolutely no reason, you have a hard time getting up in the morning i.e. even when you go to bed at a reasonable time, you are feeling overwhelmed or rundown, you crave for sweet or salty snacks, you have a hard time recovering from stress or an illness, you are many times more awake, energetic and alert post 6 in the evening compared with the rest of the day, you must fix yourself an appointment with the doctor.

    How Common is Adrenal Fatigue?

    Well, very common. So common that statisticians would not really work out a whole survey to reap out the total numbers. But, of course the number can be compared with that of the yesteryears when there was no severe economic recession or the 9/11.

    Who is at Risk for Adrenal Fatigue?

     There is no one particular perosn who gets his/her adrenals fatigued, it can happen to anyone at any point in his/her life. A certain illness or a life crisis can drain all the energy out of the adrenals even in the most healthy person. There are, however, some factors that can make one especially susceptible to adrenal fatigue. These factors include lifestyle changes such as those related to diet, too little sleep or rest time, repeated infections, stressful jobs, imprisonment, poverty, etc.

    Treating Adrenal Fatigue

    Adrenal fatigue is not an everlasting medical problem. It can be treated provided you understand and confront the symptoms. With proper care, almost anybody suffering from adrenal fatigue can begin to feel good again.

    Treatment #1:Get Ample Sleep

    As we age, our sleep needs also change and we must make sure that we keep with the growing needs of the body. One of the first steps to treating adrenal fatigue or bringing the fatigued adrenals back to life is getting enough sleep. One must take at least seven to eight hours of sleep at night. If you can get to bed much before midnight, you will be giving your body a lot more time to heal.

    Treatment #2:Meditate

    Most doctors recommend meditation or practising yoga over medication because while the former does not really have any side-effects, all forms of  the latter have some side-effect or the other. Besides, medication can make one dependent. You could wake up early in the morning and in the serenity of the morning breeze, meditate or do breathing exercises.

    Treatment #3:Eliminate Sugar and Processed Carbohydrates

    Eliminate any sugar and processed carbohydrates from your diet. These are just empty calories that do nothing besides putting extra stress on the adrenals because it is them that regulate blood sugar levels. And, with your current case being tight already, you do not want to put extra pressure on the adrenals.

    Treatment #4:Do Something about the Caffeine Habit

    Quit it, actually.  Or reduce, at the most. That is all the bargain value that you can settle for when you want to treat a fatigued adrenal. Swap caffeine for green tea, dandelion, peppermint tea and chicory or just nice, clean water.

    Treatment #5:Eat a Clean Diet

    Eat an organic diet that includes fresh, plant based, whole foods instead of processed ones. Load your plate up on veggies, nuts, fruits, beans, legumes and whole grains.
