Apart from making you shiver, winter also affects the range of foods and drinks you can enjoy. While you can no longer enjoy the cold drinks you otherwise love to drink, you may also be worried about the health of your heart, making it even more difficult to choose the perfect drink. Cranberry Cocktail

One of the best options for a drink during cold weather, the cranberry cocktail, offers amazing aroma and soothing taste. Flavour cranberry juice with few ground cinnamon and cloves. Heat it for some time in low heat and simmer whole cranberries with sugar and water. Allow it to cool and your drink is ready. Cranberry juice is a good source of antioxidants which decrease the risk of heart disease. Since the cocktail is alcohol-free, you would not have to worry about the health of your heart even while you enjoy the warmth and amazing taste of cranberry cocktail. Hot Cocoa without Dairy

Who doesn't love a magical mug of hot chocolate? The use of dairy, however, may keep you worried about your heart. Here is the perfect solution:a dairy-free hot mug of cocoa. The absence of dairy would allow you to enjoy a steaming mug of hot chocolate this winter without having to worry about your heart. To make your cup of hot cocoa healthy for your heart, substitute regular milk with either one of the many forms of plant-based milk such as almond, soy, or hemp. Apple Cider

To make the delicious apple cider healthier for your heart, just make it a little spicy. Add some whole cloves, whole allspice, and few cinnamon sticks, to a saucepan with apple cider in it and heat it on low flame. The spices will bring out the flavor of the cider as it warms up. Once it's hot, filter and pour the beverage into mugs, and your healthy drink is ready. It will provide you great taste along with relief from the shivering cold. Egg Nog

Take a can of evaporated low fat milk and mix it with fat-free or 1 percent milk along with a little sugar and pasteurized eggs, and let it simmer for about 10 minutes. You may also add a little vanilla extract to bring in a nice soothing vanilla flavour. Drink your egg nog while it is hot. You will soon find yourself delighted with the taste. Moreover, it provides you a healthy way to keep the cold at bay without posing any risk to your heart. Ginger Drink

While there are not many options when it comes heart healthy drinks for cold weather, there are enough drinks to keep you warm and delighted throughout the season. Next such drink is a ginger based warm drink. If you don't like apple cider, you can brew up a hot mug of spicy ginger drink. Simmer few freshly sliced ginger in hot water for about 5 minutes. Strain it out and add brown sugar and honey as per taste. You may also add few drops of fresh lemon juice. Hot Milk Punch

If you have kids in your house, this one is soon going to become a commonly used recipe in your kitchen. Children love milk punches and most adults also can't always avoid them. You may keep them happy with a hot mug of fat-free milk punch. Use 1 percent of fat-free milk, unsweetened almond milk or soy milk and sweeten it to taste with a simple syrup of sugar and water. Once the punch is sweetened to your liking, heat it until it is very hot and then flavour generously with vanilla extract, ladle into cups, and dust with a light sprinkling of ground nutmeg. Hot Cranberry Orage Wassail

Cranberry juice and orange juice make great drinks on their own and when you add them together you get something even better. Add cranberry and orange juice to form a heart-healthy wassail with flavour of cloves. Both the fruit juices are rich in antioxidants. Add some red hot candies or cinnamon candies while simmerring the juices to make the mixture spicy and heighten the flavour.
