There are very few people who actually make it to the age of 100, in fact it is a rare phenomena. Having said this you have to understand that the way we live our lives isn't exactly the best way to live longer than usual. Therefore, you should induct some healthy habits in your life that will help you to live longer than most people do. Can you live for 100 years?

Be Active

By being active you can make a lot of difference to your life. Staying active does not mean that you have to hit the gym everyday, you just need to move around and get out from your lazy zone. By staying active and exercising you can ward off many diseases, and you will have a healthier life when you grow old. It is like oiling a machine for it to move smoothly.

Manage Stress

Negative emotions are not good for your health. Research has shown that chronic stress can shorten telomere lengths and this can make you age. You must be able to get yourself out of stressful situations as that is very essential for your health. Starting today you should meditate and preserve your telomeres. Meditation calms you down and gives you a better picture of life.

our bodies can function so well because of the nutrients that we get from our food source. Eating vegetables is the best way to get all the nutrients in your body and we should be able to include more green vegetables in our diet. Do not leave any colour out, eat your greens, eat everything that you can get from plants, they are simply fabulous for your body. Stick to a Routine

Discipline is fundamental for a long life, and you would do great if you can lead a disciplined life by sticking to a routine. You should go to bed and wake up everyday at the same time, as this keeps your body in a steady equilibrium. Also, you could eat your meals at a designated time each day, try eating an early dinner. Also, make sure that you eat a good breakfast after waking up in the morning.

Eat Whole Foods

Evidence suggests that if you have selenium, beta-carotene, vitamins C and E in high amounts in your blood then you age better and have a slower rate of cognitive decline. There is however no evidence that by taking supplements for these in the form of pills would help you or benfit you in any way. Eat whole grain breads and cereals as they have a lot of good nutrients hidden in them.

Staying connected with friends and family is the best way to keep your mind at the best of health, as this way you can avoid depression. Depression can cause you to have a premature death and this is something that is very prevalent in elderly widows and widowers. In fact psychologists believe that the biggest advantage that elderly people experience is the strong social interactions that they have when they go for a walk with other older people. Daily social interactions are very necessary.
