Say no to sulphate

Many shampoos contain sodium lauryl sulphate, a detergent known to remove oil from hair. It is easy to mistake it for an advantage, but you shouldn’t because sulphate harbouring shampoos often strip your hair of essential natural oils that keep your hair healthy and hydrated, leaving them dull and dry. Therefore, opt for shampoos that are sulphate-free. Image source: Getty

Try DIY Aloe Vera hair mask

Owing to its amazing properties, aloe vera is a common ingredient in most of the beauty products. Take a leaf of aloe vera and cut it open to extract fresh aloe vera gel. Take three tablespoons of the gel and add a few drops of lime juice. Mix both the ingredients well and apply the mixture on your hair. Let it sit for half an hour and later on wash your hair with cold water. Including this hair treatment once a week in your hair care regime will help keep your hair healthy. Image source: Getty

Stay clear of boiling hot water

Nothing feels better than a hot shower on a cold day but washing your hair with it may not be such a great idea as exposing your hair to hot water can strip moisture from your hair. Thus, using lukewarm water to wash hair seems like a better choice. Image source: Getty

DIY hair spa at home

Warm up your hair oil and add a few drops of lemon juice in it. Apply this mixture onto your scalp. This will help prevent dryness thereby dandruff. Now take damp towel and heat in it in microwave for 30 seconds. Wrap this towel around your hair. Blow dry around the towel to allow the oil and mask to sink in deeper. Take the towel off your head. Leave it in overnight if possible. Image source: Getty

Avoid hair dryers

Most of us seek help of heated appliances to dry and style your hair but use of such products can damage your fragile strands especially when you use right after a wash. Ideally, it is always good to let your hair dry naturally. Image source: Getty
