Dark circles can be a cause of some serious concern. They not only make you look tired and exhausted but they also make you appear older than your age. You can find several over-the-counter ointments that claim to help you get rid of dark circles but their chemical composition can make matters worse. However, there some natural remedies that can help you soothe the delicate skin under the eyes and lighten the complexion. Try these homemade packs to clear off the dark circles.

Tomato and Lemon Mask

Tomato is an effective skin lightening agent which improves the complexion of the area around your eyes and lemon contains moisturizing properties that can make the skin and blood vessels smooth and thus help retention of fluid under the eyes. Squeeze out some tomato juice and add the juice of 1 lemon into it. Mix it up properly and carefully apply this mixture under the eyes. Let it stay under the eyes for an hour and then rinse it off with cold water.

Turmeric and Pineapple Juice Mask

Turmeric contains anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that can treat dark circles effectively. Pineapple juice is a great skin toner and can give soothing effect to the eyes. To two teaspoonfuls of turmeric powder, add three teaspoonfuls of pineapple juice. Stir the mixture until it turns into a smooth paste. Apply the paste to the area under the eyes and wash it off after half an hour. To see results really quick, apply this paste every morning.

Potato, Olive Oil and Honey Mask

Potato contains bleaching agents that can lighten dark skin. While olive oil can improve the circulation of blood and tighten the skin, honey will nourish and moisturize the affected areas. Grate a peeled potato finely and add 1 tablespoonful of honey and 1 tablespoonful of olive oil to it. Apply this mixture under the eyes and leave it on for half an hour. Rinse it off with warm water and re-apply every alternate day before going to bed.

Cucumber and Lemon Juice Mask

Cucumber contains astringent properties that can refresh and soothe the tired eyes. It can effectively reduce inflammation under the eyes and lighten the complexion of the area. Grate half cucumber to extract the juice out of it. Put the grated cucumber in the fridge for half an hour and the add juice from half lemon to it. With help of cotton pads, apply the mixture to your eyes. Leave the mixture for 15 minutes and then wash it off with cold water.

Mint and Honey Mask

Mint has cooling properties which can refresh your tired eyes. Its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties can reduce the dark circles around eyes effectively. Crush few mint leaves and add 1 tablespoonful of honey to it. Apply the freshly crushed mint mixture around the eyes and leave for 15 minutes. Wash it off with cold water and use this mask every night before going to sleep to remove the dark circles permanently.

Almond and Lemon Juice Pack

Besides stress and lack of sleep, there are some factors that can cause dark circles. These include smoking, consumption of alcohol or coffee in abundance or dehydration. Apart from quitting these habits you may use almond and lemon juice pack to treat your dark under eye circles. Mix one tablespoonful of almond oil and one tablespoonful of lemon juice. Apply the mixture to the area under the eyes and let it stay. Apply it every night to see results quickly.

Rose Water Pack

Rose water is an essential part of many face packs. However, you can use it alone to treat dark circles as its anti inflammatory properties will help in reducing the puffiness under the eyes. Simply dip two cotton balls in pure rose water and apply it to your under eye circles. It will instantly give you a cooling and refreshing effect and reduce the puffiness.
