Skin is one of the most important organs of our body and has a lot of vital roles to play in our lives. However, we often make some mistakes that can be harmful to the skin. Here are the top 9 things you should stop doing to your skin right away. Image Courtesy: Getty

Ignoring the Skin Type

You should know your skin type and use only the products that suit your skin. You can do self-check or consult a dermatologist to find out your skin type. Using products that are not for your skin type can damage your skin. Image Courtesy: Getty

Forgetting the Sunscreen

Wearing a good sunscreen is very important for protecting your skin from the harmful rays. Use sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 15 or higher. Make sure that you use a water-resistant and sweat-proof sunscreen, if you're at the beach or exercising outside. Forgetting sunscreen can let the burn damage your skin. Image Courtesy: Getty

Not Drinking Enough Water

Water plumps up your skin cells and makes your skin look fresh and bright. When you're dehydrated, your skin starts to dry out. Drink at least 8 glasses of water every day to keep your skin healthy. Image Courtesy: Getty

Wearing Make Up to Bed

Nothing can be worse than leaving your skin under unnatural substances and chemicals 24/7. Even your skin needs rest where it can stay natural. Don't wear make up to bed as it will deny your skin to rest and recover from the wear and tear caused during the day. Image Courtesy: Getty

Forgetting to Wash It Often

Washing your face twice a day with water and face wash or a gentle soap or a cleanser removes dirt and oils and keeps your skin clean and healthy. Avoid strong, scouring soaps, and also limit the time you spend in the bath or shower. Leaving the dirt on will eventually damage the skin. Image Courtesy: Getty

Leaving It Dry

Dry skin is bound to a lot of damage. Never forget to apply a moisturizer is right after you step out of the shower or bath. With your skin still damp, apply the moisturizer so your skin will keep that moisture in. You can also apply after you wash your hands and before going outdoors for extended periods in cold weather. Being Rough

Skin may appear to be less important than organs like heart and lungs however it is as important and as sensitive. Treat your skin gently rather being rough. Use gentle products on your skin, preferably natural ones. Image Courtesy: Getty

The Ruthless Shave

You may be in a hurry and need to shave quickly however your skin can not sustain rough treatment with the blade. Shave carefully and gently using a lubricating gel or foam, and pat dry with a towel after cleaning instead of wiping, this will keep some moisture on your skin. Image Courtesy: Getty

Poor Diet

You shouldn't deprive your skin of what it needs. Make sure you eat a healthy diet rich in Vitamin A, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C and Vitamin D that help your skin stay smooth and healthy. A healthy balanced diet is one of the most important things for healthy skin. Image Courtesy: Getty
