Do you eat enough?

Do you know our body gives us warning signs of dwindling health long before we get down with illnesses and diseases? Our body also warns us when we are not eating enough. If your body is giving these clues then there is something wrong in the way you eat, and it’s time to make a healthy change.

You're always starving

If you are eating right, you can’t be hungry all the time. If you've eaten recently and still feel hungry, you probably are not eating enough. If the quantity of food makes you full, your diet may be lacking in essential components, whether it's protein, carbohydrates, fat or fibre.

You crave sugar

Low blood sugar, boredom and fatigue are the most common reasons for craving sugar. If these are not the reasons for your cravings, you are not getting enough quality nutrients such as protein, healthy fats and fibre.

You aren't "regular"

Infrequent bowel function occurs mostly when you don’t eat right. If you are having fewer than three bowel movements a week, it could be because you're constipated. Deficiency of fibre and water in your diet are some other factors for irregular bowel movements.

You try hard to maintain a healthy weight

Eating right keeps your weight in check. If you struggle to reach and maintain a healthy weight despite regular exercise, it could be your diet that is keeping you off balance. A little makeover to your diet can keep your weight within limits.

Your skin tone has become pale, unhealthy

We are what we eat. If we don’t eat right, it reflects on our skin. When you are not eating right, the skin tone becomes dull, flaky or scaly. Eating right (incorporating veggies and fruits while avoiding refined sugar) is one great way to improve your skin.

You feel exhausted all the time

Poor nutrition affects energy levels, and mood. If you feel lethargic and sluggish most of the time, you might not be eating enough. Include whole grains beans, vitamin B foods and other fibrous food choices for a steady stream of energy.

You're unhappy or stressed

You're generally a happy person, but are feeling different of late. Above that, you are feeling stressed out for no particular reason. It could be something your body is trying to tell.

Your clothes don’t fit you anymore

If your favourite clothes aren’t fitting you, it could mean you are not eating enough. You tend to tighten the belt or put on a little baggy trouser. It is time to evaluate your diet pattern and choices!
