The Weight that Just Won't Drop

Cutting sodas, eating from smaller plates, and counting each and every calorie in your meals aren’t helping shed all those pounds? So, what are you supposed to do? Well, turns out that in the quest of losing weight, you are being too ambitious and overlooking some basic ways that can help you reach your weight loss goals in no time. These are the most overlooked ways to lose weight which people may not think of first, but are actually the best things you can do to get the pounds to disappear for good. Image Courtesy: Getty

Quit Drinking

It’s time to ditch the booze! Quit drinking alcohol to get rid of the guilt of one more hangover. When you give up alcohol, you abandon the bloating and calories from it too. The result is- you are no more stumbling over your favourite beverage and are happily losing weight. Image Courtesy: Getty

Move to the City

Sounds whacky? Well, it’s logical. The city has lots of public transportation and only few parking spots. So, you will have to dump your car at least a few times a week. Of course, you knew walking could help you take off weight, but who knew that moving to the city could help you walk so much. If you aren’t looking for a major geographic relocation, all you need to do is to get to your own area’s pedestrian or cycle-friendly playground. Image Courtesy: Getty

Turn off that Idiot

Don’t tell us you didn’t know that you burn zero calories sitting and watching TV. If you really want to lose weight, get the heck up and be active. And oh, don’t forget to ditch that packet of unhealthy snacks you love to stuff yourself with while watching TV. Image Courtesy: Getty

Ask for a Change in Prescription

Your prescription could be deceiving you and making you fat without you realising it. Certain medications for treating mood disorders, diabetes, high blood pressure, and seizures may pose weight gain as a side-effect.  If you think a prescription is affecting your weight, talk to your doctor, but never stop a prescription on your own. Dump Dieting

Yes, you heard it right. Solid scientific evidence shows that people who 'diet' usually don't get to the permanent maintenance stage. Switch from traditional diets to 'mindful eating' to lose weight for good. Image Courtesy: Getty

Eat Artichokes

Eat one large artichoke for its 8 g fibre and a mere 87 calories. Frozen artichokes have nearly as much fibre as the fresh ones. Choose the kinds that you like and are comfortable with and lose your weight while eating them. Image Courtesy: Getty

A Cup of Raspberries

Full of fibre (8g), but lesser calories (64) than artichokes, raspberries are superfoods for people trying to lose weight. These juicy berries are high in cancer-fighting ellagic acid too. Image Courtesy: Getty

Have Pureed Pumpkin

A cup of pureed pumpkin is full of fibre (7g) and about 116 calories. It is a rich source of aloha and beta carotene. Your taste buds may not be a fan of this amazing nutritious food but that shouldn’t stop you from having it to lose weight. Image Courtesy: Getty
