Enhance Vision

Your child’s vision may not be perfect but that’s not the end of story. Besides proper treatment, eye care and prescribed spectacles, you can help your child enhance her vision with some simple and effective methods. Eye shift exercises can be every effective in enhancing eye vision. Children should learn to shift their eyes quickly between objects at different distances. All you need is a pencil. Have your child stand at least 10 feet away from a flat surface such as a wall while holding a pencil between her eyes and the wall. Now request your child to focus on the pencil, and focus on the wall. To make it even more effective, you can hang a calendar on the wall and ask her to focus on the pencil and then read the dates on the calendar. Let her do this for around 15 minutes.Image Courtesy: Getty

Catch the Ball

Object tracking exercises can help your child a lot with studies as they can help the eyes keep a track of words while reading. Hang an object such as a ball with a string so that it is even with your child’s nose. Now ask your child to watch the ball as you swing it back and forth. Repeat this exercise while swinging the ball from side to side. Make sure that your child makes no head movement and follows the movement of the ball with eyes.Image Courtesy: Getty

Rotate The Eyes

Request your child to rotate the eyes in a clockwise circle and blink once. Then request your child to make a complete counter-clockwise circle. Repeat several times, and make sure your child is properly blinking after every circle.Image Courtesy: Getty

Eye Writing

This one is quite simple and fun. Request your child face a wall, preferably a white one. Now request your kid to write something (anything) with the eyes without actually writing it. But here is the catch:no head movement allowed. Moving just the eyes in the shape of many different letters helps strengthen the eye muscles which can be good for her vision. Image Courtesy: Getty

Memory Games

You will be able to easily find one on the internet and these games are fun for children too. The purpose of these games is to increase your child’s visual memory. In most games of this nature, a picture is shown briefly, and then the child must try to remember as much about the picture as possible. The more your child can recall, the better it will help your child enhance the cognitive abilities and vision.Image Courtesy: Getty

Clock Exercise

Request your child to imagine a giant clock and ask him or her to focus on where the centre of the imaginary clock would be, then say a number between 1 and 12 and request your child to look, without moving the head, where that number would be on the clock. Finish by looking back at the centre. Repeat this at least 10 times, and remember to instruct your child to use his/her eyes only!Image Courtesy: Getty

Make sure your child’s eyes get ample rest every day. Allow your child to sleep for at least 7 to 8 hours daily. You should keep an eye on their way of seeing things. Make sure your kid doesn’t sit too close to the TV screen or holds a book too close to the face. Avoiding stress to the eyes can allow them to avoid further harm and even perform better during everyday activities. Image Courtesy: Getty
