The Wrong Kinds of Food

A nourished life is what we should aim for, the fast paced life we lead should not be an excuse for bad nutrition choices. There are numerous food choices we have but all are not as good as they may seem to be. Infact most foods that we eat are not worthy for our body, and can do immense harm.

There are many documented reports regarding the adverse reactions to aspartame and it has been linked to migranes, cisual changes, seizures, depression and also brain cancer. You so want to stay away from it for sure, stay away from artificial sweetners!

Canned Food

We sure do think that canned foods are the "in thing", but we tend to forget that the fact that they are extremely bad for our health. Canned food can expose you to dangerous levels of bisphenol A (BPA), a hormone-disrupting chemical that has been linked to everything from childhood aggression to obesity, heart disease, changes in breast tissue, and reproductive health problems.

It has been found that about 30 to 35 percent of people are gluten sensitive and it is increasing at a steady pace due to the breakdown of our immune tolerance which is caused by an increase in the exposue to chemicals, medications and stress, along with poor nutrition. The result of all this is not very good. Therefore, those who are gluten sensitive should stop eating it as they are increasing the risk of eveloping autoimmune diseases like psoriasis, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, lupus, and rheumatoid arthritis.

GMO Foods

A French study had shown the dangers that GMO or Genetically Modified Foods had. The study on rats showed that after consuming such foods they had an increase in mammary tumors, suffered from a failed kidney and liver necrosis. It is important for you to choose organic foods in order to ensure that you are not eating genetically modified foods.

High Fructose Corn Syrup

High Fructose Corn Syrup or HFCS has been linked to diabetes, obesity and metabolic syndrome and cancer. Now because fructose in liquid forms our bodies have a hard time to process it. HFCS come from genetically modified corn and that has it own problems.

Store-Bought Alternative Milk

The store bought milk is an alternative to your fresh ones, and this means you are consuming added sugars, preservatives, and thickeners such as carrageenan which causes inflammation. Laboratory mice were exposed to low concentration of this carrageenan for about 18 days and they were found to develop glucose intolerance and impaired insulin action. This leads to diabetes and other chronic diseases.

Processed Foods

The processed foods are not only low on nutrients but are also full of harmful chemicals such as food colouring agents and BHT which have been linked to cancer and other chronic diseases. These processed foods have added sugars and high fructose corn syrup which can wreck their immune systems and promote disease.

Trans Fat

These are even more dangerous for your heart that the saturated fats. Trans fat causes premature heart disease deaths every year. When buying food products you should check the ingredients list for words such as, “partially hydrogenated” “fractionated”, or “hydrogenated”. Stay far away from such products! You should use coconut oil, olive oil, grass-fed butter or ghee in your cooking.

If you have a sweet tooth then this will be hard for you to digest, but the fact is that sugar weakens the immune system, causes inflammation and spikes the insulin levels in the human body. Also, sugar is highly addictive. You could go for stevia or brown rice syrup instead of sugar.

Plastic Bottled Water

Plastic is just plain bad, and you should know this. Always drink water from glass or stainless steel bottles. Plastihoonc bottles sure do look fancy but they contain lot of harmful chemicals such as carcinogen di-2-ethylhexyl-adipate (DEHA) and bisphenol-A (BPA), a known endocrine disruptor.
