You can either rub the oil with hands or saturate a cotton ball with clove oil and place it against the sore tooth. The remedy works even better when you have a broken tooth. The oil seeps into the cavity of the tooth and relieves the discomfort. Clove oil can be bought from drug stores and doesn’t need any prescription.
