You can consume the right foods to boost blood flow and improve oxygen levels. Foods that can improve O2 level and circulation

For the body to stay healthy always, even during this Coronavirus pandemic, it is necessary that your lungs function properly. After getting filtered from the lungs, oxygen reaches every part of your body. In such a situation, it is very important to take proper care of the lungs, where diet plays a crucial role. As per Dt. Arushi, here are 9 foods to improve O2 levels and circulation:

1. Honey

Honey is known for improving oxygen levels and it has great importance in Ayurveda, as it contains anti-bacterial properties. By consuming it, your lungs become stronger. Apart from that, you can drink honey by adding it to warm lemon water in the morning to remove the toxins from the body. And, honey can also be added to make up a decoction. 

2. Turmeric

Turmeric is a yellow spice that is commonly found in Indian households. It is golden yellow in colour because of a compound called curcumin. Curcumin is responsible for increasing levels of nitric oxide, which therefore widens blood vessels. When blood vessels are wider, blood flows more easily and reaches your heart, brain, organs, muscles, and tissues, thus improving the circulation and oxygen levels.

3. Basil

  • Basil leaves also have good amounts of potassium, iron, chlorophyll magnesium, carotene and vitamin-C, which can help in keeping the lungs healthy.
  • You can chew 4-5 basil leaves everyday.
  • Besides this, you can also make and drink an Ayurvedic decoction with a combination of Giloy and Tulsi.

Beetroots are root veggies that contain high amounts of nitrate, which is a compound that your body converts to nitric oxide. Nitric oxide helps in widening blood vessels and increasing blood flow. It also helps in improving the O2 levels. In a study, researchers found out that beet juice lowers systolic blood pressure, which is an important measure of a blood pressure reading.

People who include garlic in their diet have an improved blood flow through the heart. When blood flows through the heart more easily, it reduces the pressure on your heart. Blood pressure gets lowered when your heart does not have to work very hard to pump blood.
