Intuitions don’t work in all cases and that is why you must learn about the early signs of pregnancy.

first trimester signs

There are a number of symptoms that can indicate for sure whether or not you are pregnant. Once you conceive, your body starts producing pregnancy hormones, which produce a lot of changes in the body and lead to  and  first trimester warning signs.

Missed cycle

You can suspect conception just after missing a period. It is among the earliest signs of pregnancy in women even if they have  perfect menstrual cycles. This is because after fertilisation, when egg and sperm fuse, they travel towards uterus.

Fatigue is one of the common symptoms in first trimester of pregnancy. You feel tired and energy-deprived because your body is preparing itself to carry a baby as well as nurture it.

Tenderness of the breasts

Another obvious sign of early pregnancy is extreme tenderness and soreness in the breasts. Even touching them causes a sensation of pain. It’s caused by hormones produced during pregnancy, which produce a lot of changes in your body.

Heartburn and constipation

In the second month of first trimester, you may experience heartburn and constipation. It is because with the onset of pregnancy, your digestive process slows down. Thus, nutrients are easily absorbed by bloodstream and foetus gets it.

Nausea and morning sickness

Nausea and morning sickness are experienced between middle of the second month and the third month of first trimester. Increased level of hormone called HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) causes morning sickness. In spite of its name, morning sickness can be experienced during any time of a day. With the start of second trimester of pregnancy, nausea generally disappears.

Higher basal body temperature

Once you conceive, your body’s basal temperature increases. Due to suspected pregnancy, you may a feel a little warmer than normal days. Keep a track of your fluctuating body temperature and speak to your doctor.

Darkening of areolas

Another early and often considered a sure shot sign of conception is the darkening of the areolas of your breasts. It is due to increase in the level of oestrogen and progesterone in the body that leads to pigmentation. Another reason for darkening of areolas can also be increased blood circulation during pregnancy.

Mood swings and irritability

Frequent mood swings also indicate conception as they can result from rapid changes of hormones in the body. Some of these symptoms include premenstrual symptoms, but in case of pregnancy, they are usually far more pronounced.

If you witness any of these signs and symptoms of pregnancy, consult a doctor at the earliest.
