Facebook considered Social Burden by teens

A study conducted by Pew Research Center on children between the age group of 12 to 17 has found that Facebook is eventually losing on its crucial demographic that once had fuelled it success.

The study found that teens are continuously revising their friend’s list either by deleting or by blocking users. It was also found that girls were more likely to delete users from their list than boys, all this because privacy comes as first priority for teens. A majority of 60 per cent has set their profiles to private, as compared to only five percent, who tweak their privacy to limit what their parents see.

The report also added that while teens are concerned about their privacy at the same time they are also keen on sharing their personal details like their location, e-mail address and phone number on the social networking site. The study has also found that out of the teens surveyed, 17 per cent have been contacted by strangers that made them feel uncomfortable or scared in some way. 57 per cent of them had also said that online experience makes them feel good about themselves, and about 37 per cent said that the social media experience allows them to feel more connected to someone else.
