Testosterone is a male hormone responsible for muscle strength, sex drive and energy levels. If your testosterone level is low, it can affect your physical as well as mental health. Low testosterone levels affect everything from the reproductive and nervous system to muscles, fat, bones and much more.

Endocrine System

Endocrine system, which is primarily responsible for producing hormones, also produces testosterone. The body system loses its function when testosterone levels fall or rise. It can cause hormonal imbalance in the body.

Reproductive System

Testosterone helps form male genitals. Those with low levels of testosterone are at greater risk of erectile dysfunction (ED). Enlarged prostate, and smaller and softer testicles are among other things that imbalance of testosterone can cause.

Sex drive has a direct connection to testosterone. If you are running low on testosterone, you may lose your sex desire. Sexual stimulation bolsters testosterone levels, while sexual inactivity can cause a drop.

Nervous System

Testosterone has an important role to play in certain behaviours. Healthy testosterone levels suggest competitiveness and self-esteem, while low testosterone levels can cause a loss of confidence and lack of motivation. In a nutshell, the testosterone hormone is one of the regulators of how you feel.

Skin and Hair

It is testosterone that spurs the growth of hair. Hair on face, armpits, around the genitals, arms, legs and chest are related to the hormone. If levels of testosterone are not within a healthy range, you may lose some body hair besides having irregular hair growth.

Muscle, Fat and Bone

The development of muscle strength and bone density can also get affected because of unhealthy testosterone levels. Low testosterone puts you at risk of bone fractures. Your metabolic system can also become inefficient.
