Obesity in children is a major cause of diabetes in them. It is important to understand the connection between the two and save the lives of children.

Children should essentially be fit and sporty with enough energy to drive parents crazy with their naughty deeds. The modern world, however,  is contradicting this notion and a very rare event  is unfolding in our midst. Children aregetting  obese and are at the risk of conceiving a disease like diabetes. This is the result of the new media, namely television, video games, computers and mobile phones. To play means to turn and twist the knobs of a joy stick, your body can remain where it is. Then we have pizzas, burgers and French fries to finish the deal; obesity is a fear and you better start trembling.

The fear factor in this entire issue is that researchers believe that children are at a high risk of getting conceiving  type 2 diabetes.  In type 2 diabetes, it has been found that either the body does not produce enough insulin or cells are unable to utilise  the insulin This insulin  is required  by the body to metabolise glucose from food for energy. It has also been found that one of the foremost risk factors for type 2 diabetes is obesity. Let us try and understand how they are related.

Obesity and Insulin Connection

Type 2 diabetes is a frightening  type of diabetes, which is associated with insulin resistance. Insulin is important since delivers glucose to the cells to produce energy and hence, when a person becomes overweight the cells in his or her body become less sensitive to the insulin that is released by the pancreas. It has also been found that fat cells are more resistant to insulin than muscle cells. So, now you can do your calculation and understand that at this rate, the entire body is at harm because insulin is less effective in the body. Therefore, glucose circulates in the body  instead of reaching the cells.
