Coffee Can Help Tame Parkinsons SymptomsA new research has claimed that drinking two cups of coffee a day can help tame the shakes caused by Parkinson disease.

The research was conducted at McGill University, Montreal, Canada.  61 patients suffering from Parkinson volunteered for the study and were given caffeine pills that were equivalent to the amount of caffeine in two to four cups of coffee taken in a day. After six weeks, the severity of movement symptoms in Parkinson disease was found to have improved by five points.

Lead researcher of the study, Dr Ronald Postuma, said that five-point improvement is a modest success, but significantly beneficial to the patients. The finding of the research was published in the online issue of the medical journal ‘Neurology’.

Dr Michael Schwarzschild, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston wrote in an editorial, which accompanied the research, that coffee is a safe and inexpensive method to reduce Parkinson’s symptoms, however, its use by Parkinson’s patients is not suggested in the study.
