Irregular periods can give any woman a great deal of anxiety. Surprisingly, it has become a common problem affecting several women. Most of us know that missing on a period is a sign of pregnancy but guess what there is moreto it. What most women don’t know is that having irregular periods can be  an indication of complication with fertility. 

Yes, you heard it right! Around 30-34 percent of women with fertility issues experience irregular periods. If a woman is having irregular periods or abnormal bleeding, it means that she is not ovulatingThis is also known as anovulation.

So What Causes Irregular Periods?

One of the most common causes of irregular periods is stress. Cortisol, also known as stress hormone, directly affects production of oestrogen and progesterone levels, thereby, changing time and flow of your cycle. Another culprit to blame for an abnormal period is the diet. Eating unhealthy foods will change levels of certain hormones, therefore, shifting the cycle.  Use of birth control pills and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) are two other reasons responsible for irregular periods.

How to Get Pregnant with Ovulation Problems?

Anovulation can be treated with fertility drugs but your doctor would need to evaluate you for other conditions to make sure that they are not interfering with your ovulation. Once all other possibilities including medical conditions are ruled out, your doctor can prescribe some fertility drugs that can help you stimulate the ovulation.

Most doctors prescribe drugs that contain a drug called clomiphene due its effectiveness. Besides, it can be taken orally which is preferred by most of the women. It works by inducing ovulation and fixing irregular ovulation by increasing production of eggs by the ovaries.

Moreover slight changes in lifestyle, food habits and weight management can improve the natural process of hormone regulation thus maintaining the cyle.
