Besides medication certain alternative therapies such as relaxation techniques can also help in controlling hypertension. Yoga, meditation, music therapy and deep breathing are been largely use for reducing stress level.

Some supplements that can help you to lower your blood pressure include:

Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA)

Alpha-linolenic acid is popular used to prevent and treating heart conditions and blood vessels. It is found to very effective in preventing heart attacks, lowering high blood pressure, lowering cholesterol, and reverse atherosclerosis. Not enough is known yet to be able to rate alpha-linolenic acid’s effect on high cholesterol.

Blond psyllium

Taking blond psyllium by mouth, alone or in combination with soy protein can help lower blood pressure in adults.

Calcium

Calcium is a key tool in preventing hypertension (high blood pressure) or lowering it if your blood pressure is already elevated.

Cocoa

According to studies cocoa intake can also lower blood pressure and reduce death risk. Cocoa conatin natural compunds called flavanols that may be the reason behind it.

You may include these supplements in your diet as foods or take them as supplement pills or capsules.

But before starting any kind of supplement talk to your physician. Some supplements can adversely interact with your blood pressure medications and cause harmful side effects.

Relaxation techniques, such as yoga, meditation, deep breathing, music therapy can reduce your stress, anxiety and help you to relax. You will have to practice them regular for them to be beneficial. But do not stop your medications without consulting your doctor. Relaxation techniques, should be used along with medications, diet, and exercise to reduce your blood pressure.
