This genetic mutation leading to auditory neuropathy is very rare disease and is prevalent in children across the world.

The diet used in the study was enhanced using beta carotene, vitamin C & E and magnesium helps to delay the process of deafness in mouse related to heredity.

The mice were knock out with Connexin 26 gene-the gene responsible for innate hearing loss. This genetic mutated gene is known to cause the rare hearing loss in children by birth.

Yehoash Raphael, professor at the Michigan University emphasis the use of specific minerals and vitamins to slow down the innate genetic mutation process.

During the course of study one negative outcome points about the response of mice to differential diet was that some of the mice showed different reaction for different diet.

However, the mice with auditory neuropathy experienced the opposite outcome, showing accelerated progression of deafness following the diet.
