World's Oldest ManThe Guinness World Records recently titled a 111-year old US man as the world’s oldest living man.

Dr. Alexander Imich, who hails from the New York City and is a parapsychologist and retired chemist, has been declared the new oldest living man.

The title was given to him by Guinness after the earlier title holder Arturo Licara from Italy died last month at the age of 111 years and 357 days.

The current oldest man alive on earth Imich was born on February 4, 1903, in present-day Czestochowa, Poland, which was a part of the Russian Empire then.

According to Guinness, Imicha and his wife, Wela had immigrated from Soviet Union to US in the year 1951. After Wela passed away in 1986, Imich has been living alone in Manhattan.
Imich himself feels surprised over his long life. He says it’s his good genes and an overall healthy style which made him come so far.

Imich’s motto in life i.e, one should always pursue what one loves and is passionate about, was formed because of his passion and curiosity towards parapsychology.

The senior gerontology consultant for Guinness world records, Robert Young verified Imicih’s age by using his birth record, immigration papers, and university records.

The official plaque of the title was presented to Imich at his home in Manhattan’s Upper West Side by Stuart Claxton, an official from Guinness world records.

Guinness said Imich's history and recognition encompasses a variety of milestones.
"He is both the oldest living war veteran and the first 'oldest living man' to hold a doctorate’’, said Young.

The currently recognized oldest living person overall by Guinness is Misao Okawa of Japan who is 116 years of age. She was born on March 5, 1898 and is living in Osaka.

The age to which a human has ever lived is 122 years, 164 days by Jeanne Louise Calment of France.
