Armpit area is very sensitive and is also often dark and sweaty, thus highly prone to irritation. You may get rashes under the arms due to reaction to chemicals, environmental elements or personal body conditions. However, knowing the cause of the irritation can easily treat it.
The first and foremost thing you should do is find out the cause of your rash. The cause can be easily identified when the rash occurs for example, if you experience rash after shave, then it may be just be a razor burn. However, if you experience rashes occasionally, you may have dry skin or a reaction to excess perspiration. You may also get persistent rashes under the arms as a result of adverse reaction to chemicals used in detergent and deodorant.
You will find plenty of lotions and creams in the market claiming to help you get rid of such rashes, but most of them do more harm than good as they contain chemicals that actually worsen rash. Therefore, instead of using such creams and lotions, you can treat the symptoms by using simple home remedies like aloe vera gel and tea tree oil.
To reduce the risk of rashes, try to keep the affected area clean and wear loose clothing that does not rub against your rash. This will also prevent it from getting worse. Avoid prolonged exposure to heat or intense activity to prevent excess perspiration as it could also aggravate your rash.
One of the best ways to keep rashes at bay is to change your habits. If you think that your deodorant is responsible for the rash, try switching brands or use more natural products instead. Similarly, if you get rash due to shaving, try using some other methods of hair removal.
If changing products or habits does not help you much, consider seeing a dermatologist for treatment.
