There are several reasons why we should take a long hard look at our lifestyles and make changes to make it healthier, better, and more productive. And in case you hadn’t heard, here’s one more reason: A better lifestyle can give you a better sex life. Studies have shown that there is a direct co-relation between lifestyle issues such as obesity and sexual dysfunction. This might be a good time to finally get on that treadmill that’s been acting as a clothes hanger for so long.
Doctors say that it has been known for long that if you feel good about yourself, you generally tend to feel better about your relationships. This automatically means that if you’re getting enough sleep, eating better, and consequently living a healthier lifestyle, it could directly translate into a better and more rewarding sex life. Even though there haven’t been any published results to prove the connection between a good, well balanced diet and your performance in the bedroom, doctors say that a poor diet can be the cause of several health problems that can directly interfere with your sex life.
In fact, a study conducted on more than 5,500 Danish men and women found that the risk of experiencing sexual dysfunction was as much as 71 per cent higher for men who were overweight. And it’s not just weight. The study also found that heavy drinkers, smokers and people who take drugs are definitely more likely to suffer from sexual dysfunctions than those with healthier lifestyles. In fact, other studies have proved that moderate but regular exercise has a positive effect on major sexual problems such as erectile dysfunction in men, and low libido in both genders.
Sleep deprivation can be another cause of problems in the sack. Doctors have found that those people who get less than six hours of sleep a night are usually likely to be more stressed, more tired, and even angrier than those who slept more than 8 hours a night. Less sleep also gives you a lower sex drive, aside from making you too tired for sex, anyway.
So, here’s the motivation you need. Eat healthy, sleep better, and exercise for a great time between the sheets!
