Maintaining a healthy diet has become a difficult task when all you want is good taste. Yes, who wants tasteless food? People go after for taste rather than something healthy and tasteless. And that is why not many people are not fond of pumpkin. Of course, a platter of pumpkin cannot stand against a double cheese burger. However, we do not to understand that nutrients are more important and pumpkin is highly rich in nutrients.
Here are some reasons why you should add pumpkin to your diet:
If you eat a bowl of mashed pumpkin, your body is receiving 3 grams of dietary fiber while if you munch on a fistful of pumpkin seeds, you will be allowing your body to have 1.7 grams of dietary fiber.
Daily consumption of pumpkin supplies a good amount of Vitamin A, which promotes good eye health. Along with eyes, Vitamin A helps you have a good skin, bone health and teeth.
Pumpkin seeds are enriched in phytoestrogens that relieve you from hypertension and lower the diastolic blood pressure.
Tryptophan, the amino acid present in pumpkin seeds promotes better sleep along with improving your mood.
All the fiber content in pumpkin can help you protect your health from coronary diseases.
But we cannot ignore the fact that pumpkin is not tasty. How can we add pumpkin to our diet plan along with inducing taste?
Blend in some ice cube, vanilla yogurt, pumpkin pulp, milk and some honey. Blend them well. It will take only 2 minutes to prepare delicious yet nutritious pumpkin vanilla smoothie and you can have it as your post workout drink.
Cut pumpkin into thin and small slices. Sprinkle some salt and oregano over the cut slices of pumpkin. Shallow fry them with a little olive oil until they turn golden brown. You can enjoy these crispy chips in your brunch.
Mash pumpkin. Add oregano, salt, uncooked oatmeal, crushed walnuts, almonds. Make small balls, cover them in corn flour and fry. Enjoy these energy filled balls in your lunch.
Cut pumpkin in shape of fries. Sprinkle salt over them. Fry and enjoy your healthy pumpkin fries.
Cook mashed pumpkin with double cream in some chicken or vegetable stock. Add salt and pepper powder for taste. Cook until you get the desired thickness. Garnish with some thick milk cream.
