Generally people believe children to be too young to get depressed. However, the fact is that depression is a condition that affects many children and adolescents. In case of children it is very difficult to understand whether they are feeling depressed or not. There is a distinction between normal sadness and depression in children. Any child is bound to feel sad or unhappy at certain points in their life. Depression in childhood generally means that the child is consistently feeling sad, irritable or withdrawn.Typically when children are depressed they are unable to concentrate on their studies, they don't like to interact with other children and playing with them.At times children become quite irritating and aggressive in nature. When parents see drastic changes in their children they should talk to the child openly and should consult the doctor when necessary.
