It is more of a necessity than just a ‘good habit’ to drink plenty of fluids to keep yourself hydrated. However, relying on water for all the fluid requirement may not be easy. You would also seek a variety of taste and refreshing experience from the drinks. Moreover, it some of the drinks may be too hard to avoid, as you may just love them. But are all the drinks safe for your health? There is more to your drinks than just meets the eye. It could be healthy and nourishing or on the other hand harmful for your health in the long run. Let’s find out which drinks are good for you and which are bad.

Green Tea:

Green tea is rich in flavonoids, polyphenols, natural antioxidants that enable the drink to offer several health benefits. Green tea is believed to be helpful in protecting cells from carcinogens and neutralizing free radicals in the body. Drinking a cup of green tea regularly can also reduce your risk of heart problems by relaxing blood vessels and inhibiting the formation of blood clots. The fluorides recent in the tea can also help you prevent cavities.

Fat-free milk:

Fat-free milk or one percent fat milk offers all the benefits of milk such as calcium, vitamin D, and other minerals. But that is not all. It also helps your body maintain a healthy weight due to the low-fat content.

Soy milk:

Soy milk is rich in soluble fibre and soy protein, which lowers the bad cholesterol (LDL) levels and triglycerides, reducing the risk of heart disease. Besides regular fat-free or one percent fat milk, add a cup of soy milk to your diet for a healthier heart.

Hot Chocolate:

A nice cup of hot chocolate can boost your mood in no time by the production of the neurotransmitter serotonin that regulates your mood. Quality chocolate, especially cocoa is also rich in polyphenols and natural antioxidants that can be good for your heart.

Cranberry Juice:

Cranberry juice contains offers antibacterial properties that can help you fight off urinary tract infections as well as periodontal disease. Drink cranberry juice to keep UTIs and gum diseases at bay.

Now that we know some drinks that you can sip on without worrying about your health, let’s take notice of some bad yet popular drinks that can be harmful to your health.

Soda:

Soda cans and soft drinks are overloaded with sugar and provide loads calories without satisfying your thirst or hunger. Too much of soft drinks can even lead to obesity and other health problems. Even diet soda can be harmful to you as it is zero on nutrition too. Similarly, energy drinks have only bad things to offer.

Fancy coffee:

You love that special coffee from the local café and we know that but isn’t it blended with 2-percent milk and sugar with loads of calories and saturated fat? Don’t make such fancy coffees your daily affair.
